I know what you’re thinking, another blog? Yes, this is another blog, but it won’t be just like any other blog. I have a passion, a purpose, and I have something to say.
Congratulations, you’ve made it past the intro! So why should you continue reading? Well if you keep reading I’ll tell you a little bit about what this blog will become. After that you can decide if you’d like to stick around and follow my blogging journey. Deal?
So, why on earth did I decide to start writing a blog? Well, obviously because I’m a millennial and that’s what we do, right? Wrong. For any of you who know me, you know that I’m a creative person, and that finding ways to express my creativity fuels me.
For those of you who know me very well, you know that I recently quit my job (sorry mom and dad). It’s not that I didn’t like my job, or the field of landscape architecture – because I do. It’s just that when a situation isn’t right, and it no longer makes you feel all sunshine and rainbows, what’s the point, right? Right.
Well, since quitting my job, I’ve found myself with a lot, and I mean A LOT, of extra creative juices. Any creative person with not enough outlets knows that this will slowly drive you mad. Whether it was my impending madness, or my fiancé’s brilliant mind (still debatable), he brought up the idea of starting a blog to me.
At first, I thought what you’re all thinking, ugh, not another blog. But, then I started thinking about it. If you can’t already tell, I have a lot to say, and quite the passion for photography to channel my thoughts. So, why the hell not?
Why can’t I channel my extra creativity into a blog? Why can’t I explore my love of photography beyond taking the actual photo? If not now, when? If not this, what? And so here we are.
If you’re not sick of my writing yet, then you’re either crazy (like me) or you’re actually interested in the contents of my blog (and for that I thank you). For you, here is a little tidbit about what I hope this blog can become:
1. Learn Tips & Tricks About the Technical Side of Photography
I hope that we can learn the ins and outs of the technical side of photography together. As per usual, I plan on being brutally honest and open. I’ll share my successes and failures trying to be a technical photographer, and I hope you’ll share too!
2. Provide Honest, Unbiased Reviews of Photography Equipment
Realistically, since quitting my job, I’m not exactly rolling in the dough if you know what I mean! Regardless, I may not be going out and buying new equipment to test and review every week, but you can be darn-sure that I will provide honest no-filter (sorry, photographer puns) opinions on my currently-owned equipment as well as any that I can manage to get my hands on!
3. Start Discussions About Photography with Other Like-Minded People
Who doesn’t like a good old-fashioned debate? I plan on this blog being a space were people can ask honest questions, get honest answers and talk about photography. Let’s create a community where we can argue the pros and cons of shooting in RAW, or where we can debate Nikon versus Canon (side-note I’m team Nikon all the way!). Heck, I’ll even try and give you some useful links to forums where your questions can be answered.
4. Explore the World from the Lens of a Camera
As a fine art landscape and wildlife photographer, let me be completely honest and tell you that my end goal is to travel the world and take photos. Making enough money off my photography is the dream. However, bills and such tend to put a wee bit of a damper on the dream, if you know what I mean. Regardless, this blog will also host some of the adventures I have been on, will go on and dream of going on. If you stick around I promise to share some pretty epic adventures.
5. Be Inspired to Create In Your Own Way
Last but certainly not least, I hope that this blog can inspire you. I know sappy, right? But it’s the truth. As a creative soul, I want to encourage others to find their own way of expressing themselves. Whether it is through dance, art, yoga, writing or any other medium, I hope that maybe this blog can give you that little boost you need to explore your own creativity.
Holy Guacamole, you’ve made it to the end of my first official blog post. Seriously, congratulations, that couldn’t have been easy. But honestly, thank you. I hope I haven’t scared you away from reading my future posts, or bored you to death quite yet. I promise if you stick around I will continue to provide some entertainment, photography puns and hopefully some useful information.
